4 WAYS TO STAY CONSISTENT WITH A BUSY AF SCHEDULE

  1. Create a plan. What can stay consistent in your schedule? For example, I always work out from 5-6am. Always. If I’m working out on the weekend, it’s at a different time, but it’s rare that I push workouts to the weekend. Are you an AM person or a PM person? When are you most productive? Are you an “up and at ‘em” type of person, or does it take you a bit to get your ass in gear? How do you want to start your mornings and end your nights?

  2. Set yourself up for success. What is one thing that you can do TODAY? You might fill up a water bottle, lay out your gym clothes, prepare a workout, pre-log your food, go for a walk, meditate, stretch, get ahead on work, etc. Whatever ya gotta do, make it EASY for yourself. If you’re someone who frequently experiences decision fatigue, then it may be beneficial to hire help.

  3. Time audit. Where are you wasting time? Are you really busy? Keep a running list of what you do throughout the day. Where can you move your time around? What can you pile together to make sure they get done? For example, I sometimes do the dishes while I cook. If food is in the oven and I don’t need to do anything right then and there, I make the most out of that time and do small chores that only take a few minutes. That way, I can still monitor my food being cooked while doing other things.

While your coffee brews, complete 1-2 small tasks like straightening up, separating laundry, or logging your food for the day. Do your time audit for a couple of days and see where you can move things around. If there isn’t much wiggle room, then brain-dump all of your to-dos and prioritize and schedule them out so that you don’t waste time staring at your to-do list.

  4. Hire help. Decision fatigue is REAL. Hire the help. Have someone to alleviate some of that for you. Need help with groceries? You can utilize instacart, grocery pick-up, or meal prep delivery services. You might also benefit from coaching. A coach helps with nutrition, mindset, and building an effective workout program. So many of my clients come to me and they’re like, “I just love the accountability and support. I love having someone tell me to do this workout for this many sets and reps, so that I don’t have to think about it. I just go and do what you said.”

It’s the same thing as when we played sports. You never had to write up your practice plans—your coach did it. The same goes for your fitness journey. Hire a coach to help you and to alleviate some of the stress or excess work. Plus, you’ll probably achieve your goals even faster because you’ll have support and direction and something you know is MADE FOR YOU by a fitness professional.
